Jimmy Lai is the billionaire proprietor of Hong Kong’s closing opposition newspaper, Apple Day after day, and an outspoken critic of Beijing.
On Friday he became once sentenced to 14 months in jail for unauthorised meeting – for taking part in two protests in 2019.
Mr Lai is one amongst essentially the most high profile of us to be arrested beneath Hong Kong’s new national security laws, as China tightens its grip on the metropolis.
